The only way to truly connect with God is to face inner truths. Coming to Christ exposes things in our life that we must hand over to Him or otherwise be overtaken by. We often find that Christianity has become a passive segway to an adulterous doctrine. We hear messages that say "you can live in sin but it's ok because God is gracious and merciful" He is and praise Him for it. But If we really understood who God is then it would be hard to purposefully and continually operate in sin. To know the word of God and deliberately disobey it is blasphemous.
